SiteManager GUI - System & DEV1 & DHCP

  • DHCP Server Mode
Select if (and how) the SiteManager should act as a DHCP server for clients on DEV1 .
The following DHCP Server Mode settings are available:
    • Off. DHCP Server is disabled.
    • ET-Controlled . This setting is default for all other models. The "ET-Controlled" mode is relevant only if this SiteManager is configured as an EasyTunnel Client. Otherwise, this mode has no effect and is equivalent to "Off".
    • Manual or Auto.
    • Relay. In this mode, DHCP requests on DEV1 are relayed to the DHCP server specified by "Relay Server".
Note: Do not activate the DHCP server on a segment that includes another DHCP server

EasyTunnel : The setting "ET-Controlled" can only be used on EasyTunnel Clients. The effects of letting the DHCP server be ET-Controlled are explained in 1c. Comprehensive list of the parameters that can be set using EasyTunnel. .

  • Pool Start and Pool Stop
Use one of the following methods to register the first and last IP address of the pool of IP addresses to allocate to DHCP clients on DEV1.

    "Manual or Auto" :

    • Manual allocation : Enter the first and last IP address of the pool of IP addresses to assign to DHCP clients on DEV1.
Note: These must be valid addresses within the subnet assigned to the DEV1 interface.
    • Automatic allocation: This can be used in two alternative ways.
      • Leave pool start and pool stop at the default setting of 0.0.0.0. This setting will automatically select a suitable pool of addresses from the DEV1 subnet for the DHCP server.
      • Specify the network part of these addresses as zeroes, e.g. 0.0.0.10 and 0.0.0.20, to use a specific range of IP addresses in the DEV1 subnet. This will automatically set the network part of the range according to the DEV1 subnet.
ET-Controlled: Pool allocation is calculated starting with the entire subnet on which the LAN or DEV1 interface of the EasyTunnel Client is placed; then the number of allocated addresses is reduced in accordance with any license restrictions on number of users.

The configuration panel includes a message showing the currently active DHCP Pool Range (you can also see this information on Status > Extended).

  • Domain Name
Here you can enter a domain name to append to computer names of DHCP clients, to form a fully qualified DNS name. Example: "company.com"
EasyTunnel : If you fill in a value for Domain Name in an EasyTunnel Server, the setting will also be used in its EasyTunnel Clients - assuming that their DHCP mode setting on System > LAN (or DEV1) DHCP is set to ET-Controlled.
  • WINS Server
If you use a WINS server for resolution of NetBios names (Windows computer names), enter its IP address here.
EasyTunnel : If you fill in a value for WINS server in an EasyTunnel Server, the setting will also be used in its EasyTunnel Clients - assuming that their DHCP mode setting on System > LAN DHCP (or System > DEV1 DHCP) is set to ET-Controlled.
  • WINS Secondary
If your organization has more than one WINS server, you can enter the IP address of a secondary WINS server here.
EasyTunnel : If you fill in a value for secondary WINS server in an EasyTunnel Server, the setting will also be used in its EasyTunnel Clients - assuming that their DHCP mode setting on System > LAN DHCP (or System > DEV1 DHCP) is set to ET-Controlled. Note, however, that some SiteManager models do not include secondary WINS.
  • Cisco CallManager
If you have a Cisco IP phone, you can configure it using DHCP by entering the IP address of the CallManager here.
EasyTunnel : If you fill in an address of a CallManager in an EasyTunnel Server, the setting will also be used in its EasyTunnel Clients - assuming that their DHCP mode setting on System > LAN DHCP (or System > DEV1 DHCP) is set to ET-Controlled. Note, however, that some SiteManager models do not include this parameter.
