SiteManager GUI - System & General

Syntax
Create designations that are meaningful, but use as few characters as possible; maximum is 127 per field.

  • Device Name
Each SiteManager must have a unique name which can function as a host name. It is recommended to use a fully qualified host name (the name does not need to be officially registered on a DNS server), e.g. "gw.company.com". The name is used in several different ways, and in some of the most important ones the name is case-sensitive , so using upper case letters is not recommended.

Note: A device name must include only letters a to z and A to Z, digits 0 to 9, hyphen (-), and dot (but not as first or last character). All other characters, including space and underscore, are forbidden.

EasyTunnel: The Device Name of an EasyTunnel Client is always set from the EasyTunnel Server.

  • Configuration via USB
You can (re-)configure this SiteManager simply by inserting (hotplug) a suitable USB flash stick into a vacant USB port.
The USB flash must have the usual FAT32 format, and it must contain a file named SECOMEA.CFG (see below) in the root of the USB file system; this file must contain a valid (full or partial) configuration for the SiteManager -- like the XML format used when importing or exporting the SiteManager configuration.
When the configuration has been updated (typically in a few seconds), the SiteManager will reboot automatically (Status LED blinks RED) - and you should now unplug the USB flash.

Accepted file names are SECOMEA.CFG, SITEMANAGER.CFG, v XXXX .CFG ( XXXX is SiteManager product id), and XXXXXXXXXXXX .CFG ( XX...XX is the serial number); only the file with the most specific filename is used. The following file suffixes can be used instead of .CFG: .XML, .XMLCFG, .CFG.TXT, .XML.TXT, and .XMLCFG.TXT.

Notice: When enabled, this feature allows anyone with physical access to the SiteManager to change its configuration - including the admin password. If you have concerns about this, you should disable this feature.

Specifically, if you only want to use this feature for a one-time initial setup of, e.g. GateManager parameters, you can set this parameter to disabled state in the USB configuration file - effectively disabling any future attempts to reconfigure the SiteManager via USB.

  • Management via Uplink
Here you can disable access to the management GUI from the UPLINK interfaces.
When disabled, you can still access the management GUI locally from the DEV1 interface, and remotely from a GateManager or LinkManager Console (provided that "Go To Appliance" is allowed).

The following 3 fields are "just" information, but if you want to avoid problems, restrict your choice of characters to the subset of the 7-bit US-ASCII Character Set shown in Appendix A . Using a mix of upper and lower cases can make your entries easier to read. If you decide you want to expand your choice, avoid using characters used by operating systems, especially characters used by GNU/Linux or Unix (e.g. the pipe symbol - "|").

  • SysAdmin
Enter the email address of the administrator of the SiteManager (optional but highly recommended).
  • Location
Enter the location of the SiteManager (optional). Do not use special symbols or extended character sets (above Hex 7E (decimal 126)).
  • Organization
Enter your organization name (optional but very highly recommended). Do not use special symbols or extended character sets (above Hex 7E (decimal 126)).
  • GUI Timeout
Enter the time (in minutes) after which the GUI session will be automatically logged out due to inactivity.
A zero value will disable inactivity timeout. For security reasons, it is strongly discouraged to disable the timeout or set it too high.
Note: GTA sesssions are not subject to inactivity timeout.
