SiteManager XX49 WiFi connection types & conditions
These are the types of WiFi connections to which a SiteManager XX49 will be able to connect to allow secure remote access
The Secomea SiteManager XX49 has an integrated 2.4GHz WiFi module for Client mode, IEEE 802.11 b/g/n
note: WiFi settings on this page are only relevant when no external WiFi USB adapter is inserted.
Wireless Network Name also called SSID. The SSID must match that of the access point (AP) that this SiteManager should connect to. If both SSID and WiFi Key are left blank, the SiteManager will attempt to connect to the default SSID "SiteManager".
Enter the Key as an ASCII string from 8 to 63 of length. WPA/TKIP or WPA2/AES-CCMP will be tried for negotiation. If both SSID and WiFi Key are left blank, the SiteManager will automatically try using its DEV1 MAC address as the key (in lower case, no colons; e.g. 00c0a2123456).
The Scan function will show the access points in range, and will also indicate if the WiFi Adapter was successful in connecting to the configured SSID and if the WiFi Key was accepted.
Hint: The default SSID and WiFi Key allow the SiteManager to quickly get Internet access using your smartphone as a hotspot, without having to configure these WiFi settings. Just enter the tethering menu (aka. Internet Sharing or Mobile Hotspot) of your smartphone and configure "SiteManager" as SSID and the SiteManager's DEV1 MAC address as WiFi Key.
The result of the Scan action may indicate "Connected", even if the key is incorrect. To firmly determine if the connection was successful, enter the Status > Network menu and verify that the UPLINK2 interface has received an IP address.
If not, check your WiFi settings and try rebooting the SiteManager.
Additionally; check that the signal quality (SQ) is acceptable. If not try to relocate the SiteManager relative to the access point.
Finally, note that SiteManager will connect to 2.4GHz WiFi networks only.
