The SiteManager's integrated Chat / Scratchpad function can be used either as a simple per-SiteManager information scratchpad, or it can be used as an interactive chat feature (or both).
When you hit the Send button, whatever text is entered in the Message field is added to the scratchpad with the current time and date (UTC time), and the Initials that you have supplied to identify yourself as the author of the message.
Several users can open the Log > Chat panel simultaneously, and other users will automatically see your updates to the Scratchpad when you submit them. Likewise, you will automatically see any messages submitted by those other users.
For example an on-site technician using the SiteManager's web interface can chat with a GateManager (or LinkManager) user that uses the Go To Appliance function to open the Chat panel.
If your text contains a web link starting with http:// or https://, the link is automatically made clickable.
You can also include an image reference in the scratchpad if you enter the link on a separate line formatted as:
To clear the entire scratchpad, submit a message where the first line starts with this text:
Notice: All submitted messages are logged on the GateManager server (if SiteManager is connected to a GateManager).
