Prerequisite

Secure File Transfer is available if you have a Professional or Premium Package.

This article provides information about Secure File Transfer, a feature aiming towards an even more secure solution. 🔒

Secure File Transfer is a feature designed for LinkManager users that need to transfer a file to or from an engineering station. An example could be firmware upgrades for a PLC.
The new file transfer feature allows you to scan a file for viruses or malware before it can be downloaded.

Only files that are scanned "OK" will be available and only for a limited time (48 hours). Afterwards, it's deleted from the GateManager. This feature can for this release be used with RDP.
We will also support files from the engineering station to a local computer.

Manufacturers require that all remote transfer of files are scanned for viruses or malware before it is allowed to make changes to a PLC, HMI, etc. on the machine – this is now part of our offering.

The value of it:

• Increases security as we limit what a user with access to a remote access connection can do.
• Prevent people with bad intentions to use our solution to conduct a cyber attack
• Give the customer more control of what the users can do.

What is it:

  • A user can easily and securely transfer files to a engineering station without worrying about infecting the manufacturer’s network.
  • The new file transfer feature allows you to scan a file for viruses or malware before it can be downloaded on an engineering station.
  • Only files that is scanned OK will be available, and only for the next 48 hours whereafter it’s automatically removed again from the GateManager.
