Article summary

Prerequisite

The Quirk Cable Length feature was introduced in SiteManager firmware 9.5, and it is, therefore, a prerequisite to use this feature.

Location

1. Navigate to the SiteManager GUI and Click "System" then "DEV1"

2. You should now be able to see the Cable Quirk Settings:

3. If you open the dropdown, you will see the different options and can now change the settings as you see fit, and experiment with what setting works best for the setup.

Info

This SiteManager is equipped with an Ethernet chip that may have trouble establishing link under some conditions, depending on cable length and link partner.

The chipmaker has published two workarounds: WA1 and WA2, which improve the link reliability in most cases. By default, both of these workarounds are enabled, however, there might be cases (such as when long cables are used) where these workarounds have the opposite effect and instead make link establishment less reliable.

The Cable Quirk Settings lets you experiment and select which combination of the workarounds works best for you.

Note: that the setting affects all DEV1-3 ports (but not UPLINK), and that it may be necessary to power cycle (cold boot) the SiteManager to make changes take effect.
